Hello

I’m Maitri N Chandria, an independent designer based in Coimbatore, where I’ve been running my practice since 2018. With a foundation in Architecture from R.V. College of Architecture, Bangalore, and a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from Scuola Politecnica di Design, Milan, my work sits at the intersection of spatial thinking and product design.

I focus on creating designs that blend the richness of Indian cultural narratives with the refinement of Italian aesthetics. My approach leans toward minimalism—stripping ideas down to their essence to create work that feels balanced, timeless, and globally relevant.

Over the years, I’ve developed a strong attention to detail and a structured approach to execution, shaped by hands-on experience across diverse projects. I’ve had the opportunity to design commercial spaces for brands like Fuzion Jewels and Zaveri Bros., translating identity into meaningful physical environments. I’m driven by curiosity, collaboration, and the constant pursuit of thoughtful, well-crafted design solutions.

My Story

My journey into design began with architecture, where I first learned to shape spaces and think in systems. Early internships at Mindspace Architects, Bangalore and Nambi + partners , Coimbatore exposed me to real-world projects. My previous work experience at L&S Architecture, Bangalore gave me a palette of projects to work with — from factory renovations to interior spaces and residential design—grounding my understanding of how design operates beyond drawings.

A pivotal shift came when I moved to Milan to pursue industrial design. There, I was immersed in a culture that values precision, storytelling, and functionality with aesthetics. It reshaped how I approached design—not just as function, but as experience. During this time, I also contributed to work showcased at Milan Design Week, an experience that reinforced my interest in designing for a global audience. Working with Riccardo Giovanetti Design Studio, Milan as a product design further added to my design thinking and detailing capabilities.

After returning to India, I chose to build an independent practice. Since 2018, I’ve worked across product, interior design and architecture exploring how objects and spaces can coexist seamlessly. Each project—whether a piece of furniture, a retail space, or a conceptual exploration—has been an opportunity to merge my dual influences into something cohesive and meaningful.

Today, my work continues to evolve through experimentation, collaboration, and a commitment to thoughtful design that connects people, culture, and space.
